IFPEN’s main strategic directions and annual activity program are approved and monitored by the Board of Directors, which is assisted by several consultative bodies: the Scientific Board, four industrial committees and the IFP School Advisory Board.

The Executive Committee, a body made up of General Management, the Business Unit Directors and the Human Resources Director, steers and controls all IFPEN’s strategic and operational initiatives.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors defines general policy, sets strategic directions and controls IFPEN’s overall management. It is made up of 16 members, including 14 appointed by the state and 2 employee representatives. The Government Commissioner, the Head of the Economic and Financial General Control Mission and the Secretary of the Works Council also attend the Board of Directors’ meetings.

SCIENTIFIC BOARD

An international and independent structure, IFPEN's Scientific Board comprises 15 external members, at least half of whom are international scientific personalities. It issues opinions on fundamental research programs, examines theses proposals formulated by IFPEN and monitors implementation. The Scientific Board is also responsible for regularly assessing research divisions.

INDUSTRIAL COMMITTEES

Four industrial committees are responsible for examining IFPEN's R&I programs in order to evaluate their relevance in terms of the needs of industry. These committees, which meet twice a year, bring together around ten French industry representatives, major players in the energy, chemicals and transport sectors. They discuss the energy context and the changes taking place in these sectors and, each year, express an opinion on IFPEN's research program.

IFP SCHOOL ADVISORY BOARD

The IFP School Advisory Board examines teaching staff appointments, the evolution of training provision, the focus of programs and teaching reforms, and ensures the school’s values are upheld.
