IFPEN is a partner in the new European R&D project GECO “Geothermal Emission Gas Control”, subsidized by the Horizon 2020 program. This project, led by Reykjavik Energy (Iceland) alongside 16 other industrial and academic partners from across Europe, has just been launched for a period of 4 years.
The aim of GECO is to develop innovative technologies designed to considerably reduce geothermal power plant gas emissions. The different approaches will be tested at four pilot plants in Europe.
IFPEN will be contributing its expertise in the following fields:
- definition of optimal conditions for fluid mixing,
- flow simulation of fluids circulating in a drilling well,
- integration of simulation models in a monitoring tool.
